Interview~ We talk with Wil Martin of Earshot

Tell us a little bit about the band and how long you have been together for some of our readers that may not know about the band?
Our first record LETTING GO came out in 2002 and our second album TWO came out in 2004. We parted ways with our label at the time, Warner Brothers Records in 2005 and then signed again to Fontana / Universal Records for 1 album THE SILVER LINING. After that we took a long hiatus and then starting in 2015 we started releasing music again and sporadically since then until now.
What is new with the band?..New Album out? New Videos?
We just released our latest 2 singles “You + I” and an unplugged version of a song off of our second album called “Tongue Tied”.
With all this madness going on with the virus…What do you think the music scene will be like in the future…and how are you prepared to make your music heard if there will not be any concerts or festivals for the year of 2020?
Let’s just hope that everything goes back to normal. Writers of music can only survive for so long with no touring. I think the music world would suffer eventually.
What got you into music and what is your earliest memory of when you told yourself… “THIS IS WHAT I WANT”?
The minute I heard a rock song and held a guitar in my hands, I knew.
Who was your first concert and what is your best memory?
I THINK my first concert was WASP. Im not 100% sure though. My most memorable show was hands down METALLICA. It was mind blowing.
If you didn’t become a musician, what would you be doing right now?
It’s hard to say. I can do and have done a lot of different things.
On a scale of 1 to 2593, How good is your newest single compared to your last single? (my attempt at humor, but please still answer)
an EASY 1000000000000000000000000000000
What do you feel is the best song you have released to date and why?.
That’s a really tough one as everyone of our songs has its own personality. That would be a better question for our fans to answer.
Do you think you can get any better as a musician/singer? And if so, How would you achieve that?
Of course! Just keep playing and keep writing. That’s how you get better. It never ends.
If you could give your fans one random fact about you that you think they should (or should “not” know) about you what would that be? I’ve done a little bit of a lot of everything. I’ll just leave that right there.
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
I’d have to be 2 colors Black and Royal Blue. They’re my favorite colors. And red too.
Who are you inspired by Musically or in life in general?
I grew up a huge fan of the band LIVE, Quicksand, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains.
What’s an average day like one tour? and what about these days?
We haven’t toured in a while, so I dont have an average day to describe for you. But I’m sure that will change soon.
Please discuss how you interact with and respond to fans?
As best we can. It’s hard to interact with every single fan. We try as best we can to let our fans know that we appreciate their support.
Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety before, during or after a show?
Of course! It’s part of the deal! After a while it goes away or becomes so little that you don’t notice it anymore.
If you could collaborate with any artist or person who would it be and why?
Many may be surprised by my answer, but it’s Dr. Dre. I think he’s one of the most brilliant living artists/ producers.
What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Go into it with no expectations and write things that YOU love and try not to think about whether anyone else will like it or not.–
