They really got the ball rolling with the high energy set with “Crucial Velocity“, that got fans into a fist-pumping frenzy and wanting to”shake your Moneymaker” as lead singer Neil Fallon said during a song break and noted that there were kids in the audience and they wanted to have them have the best show of their lives and not to get too crazy, and the crowd obliged. Neil and the band played throw a tone of old and a few new songs as well, stating ” they are working on some new stuff, and are trying a few of them out here and there” and one of called “Sonic Counselor” that really jammed and their fans approved with a huge applause and cheers after the song, Neil even mentioned that it was a new song and he was surprised he remember all of it..haha. Clutch rocked the stage from front to back and giving the crowd all their money worth from song like “Sucker for the Witch” to ” X-Ray vision” to the encores of “Big New” the ender of all enders “The House that Peterbilt“, This is a show you don’t want to miss if you want to freaking rock your face off !! Just before Clutch hit the stage, Devin Townsend Project melted faces with their mind-altering grove metal The crowd grown and more people started to pack up to the barricade close to the stage about 10 people deep. The Devin Townsend Project hoped on stage to a huge applause, it seemed to be a big following for Devin Townsend as the band started off their 9 songs set off with “Truth” and following up with the moody “Stormbender “. Devin really likes to interact with the crowd between songs and tells little stories or random thoughts sometimes make you scratch your head. The band put on a stellar show and the fans to really get into.
The night started out with The Obsessed, out of Maryland, hitting the small intimate backyard stage and warmed up the crowd with their elements of doom metal, stoner rock, and punk rock. The three-piece filled the air with their music and really got the crowd rocking out early. They really did what an opening band is supposed to do, get the crowd up front and blood moving and fist pumping in the air for the next band that hit the stage.
