Mavericks at the Landing in Jacksonville hosted Taking Back Sunday to a packed house to hear some new and favorites from the band that had a made a name for themselves as putting on a kick ass live show, And they certainly didn’t disappoint the Jacksonville fans at all.
Taking Back Sunday is on the “2017 Summer Tour” with Every Time I Die. I thought that this is was going to be an odd mix of music with ETID being a little bit of a heavier band. but it seemed to work. The two band gelled nicely together to my surprise.
Taking Back Sunday is out supporting their album “Tidal Wave”. Taking Back Sunday is an American rock band from Long Island, New York. The band was formed by guitarist Eddie Reyes in 1999. The band’s members are Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), John Nolan (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals), Eddie Reyes (rhythm guitar), Shaun Cooper (bass guitar) and Mark O’Connell (drums).
At one point in the show, Adam stopped the show and told the crowd he had done something to something to one of the fans and he had to apologize to him, the fan had crowd surfed to the pit at the front of the stage and went up to Adam while he was on stage to shack his hand or something and Adam proceeded to give him a “wedgy” from the stage. He said, “he had never done that before and it just felt weird and he had to say something about it and apologize to the guy”. He did, and then the guy came up on stage and they hugged it out and it was all good. It was something I will never forget..haha!
The band smashed out 19 of their best songs to be the packed house. They started out with ” Tidal Wave ” from the newest album and kept the waves of hits coming, like, You Can’t Look Back and Flicker, Fade. and even busted out a Green Day cover She. The crowd was going wild through out the night, The energy was flowing and the fans were getting what they came for, SO KICK ASS MUSIC!
