Ignite Live Review- 311 and The Movement throw down to sold-out crowd at House Of Blues Orlando Fl.
311 returned to Orlando, FL this week, delivering a powerful performance before a sold-out crowd at House of Blues Orlando on February 27, 2017. The band, whose albums have reached triple-platinum status, captivated the audience with a unique sound combining rock, reggae, and funk.
Originally from Omaha, NE (now based in Los Angeles,) Nick Hexum and SA Martinez are a dynamic vocal duo on stage. The two rocked a mostly-standing-room-only crowd with hits including “Down”, “All Mixed Up”, “Beautiful Disaster”, and “Amber.” Not only were the songs spot-on musically, the singers were brimming with energy as they made full use of the stage and connected with the fans.
Mahoney (lead guitarist), Chad Sexton (drums), and P-Nut (bass guitar) round out the time-tested group, which has been a cohesive unit since 1992. Shout out to the crew of 311; creative use of colorful lighting only enhanced the performance (and made our job in the photo pit more enjoyable).
Reggae band The Movement opened for 311. The South Carolina-based Reggae band including Josh Swain (vocals/guitar), Jason “Smiles” Schmidt (bass guitar) and Gary Jackson (drums) and Ross Bogan (keyboard) fired up the crowd. Their musical style was an excellent match for this event. The Movement played with ease and excitement, and “Smiles” definitely earned his nickname—what an expressive musician to watch!
The Movement will be on tour with Slightly Stoopid, Iration, and J Boog summer of 2017. 311 will also sold-out summer 2017 in support of a new album.
