“The Ides of March” is an absolute force to be reckoned with!

Myles Kennedy’s upcoming second solo album release, “The Ides of March” is an absolute force to be reckoned with. The record at hand is adorned with a pulsating mixture of progressive rock, muddy roots, and Memphis style blues topped with Myles’ world-famous and dynamic vocal range along with an astounding ability to throw down deep soulful guitar slide riffs.
Kennedy disclosed in a previous interview with Terrie Carr (105.5 WDHA FM New Jersey) that two songs on the album, “Love Rain Down” and “Wanderlust Begins” had been written about 10 years before the U.S. entered a complete lockdown close to March 15th in 2020.
This particular date, also known famously as The Ides of March, has been considered ominous since the day of Ancient Rome for anyone who owed a debt or happened to be name Caesar.
With that being said, Myles’ focus on the deep mental impact of being isolated in quarantine that was brought forth during the pandemic coupled with the need for hope, unity, strength, and faith to keep pushing forward despite the world feeling like a complete dumpster fire is, quite frankly, a breath of fresh air.
The progression of songs in the album is spot on as it starts out with lyrics describing the world’s inability to get along with each other in the very first song appropriately titled “Get Along”. He goes on to the next group of songs to describe the chaos we all experienced during quarantine. Kennedy maintains the theme of the world falling apart until the later tracks begin to share lyrics of hope and reconciliation as noted in the very last song of the album “Worried Mind”.
“Don’t be scared,
Do not cry,
Things will get better,
Just give it time.
Let me hold you.
Let me ease your worried mind.”
Myles Kennedy’s ability to ease our minds with his musical abilities is abhorrently clear by the album’s end. This music was made for reflecting, appreciating what you have, and being reassured that no matter how crazy the world is, everything is going to be alright. Kennedy’s newest album is currently available to preorder on iTunes. He will also be kicking off his socially distanced tour this summer on June 23rd in Kansas City, Missouri with only three shows to follow in Nebraska, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Seating will be limited so be sure to get your tickets early!
