02/20/2019- Ft. Myers, FL
One of rock’s hardest working and beloved bands, Shinedown, kicked off 2019 the same way they wrapped up 2018, on fire. The Attention Attention World Tour kicked off last night at the Hertz Arena, and the Estero crowd enjoyed an explosive night filled with fire, smoke, an intense light show and a B-stage that was nicely wrapped in blanket of raw energy that the Jacksonville based band is known for. Joining Shinedown on this 30-show run is Papa Roach and Asking Alexandria.
The band recently announced a summer leg of the Attention Attention World Tour with 21 additional dates that include special guests Badflower, DINOSAUR PILE UP, and Broken Hands. Included in both tours are festival stops at Welcome To Rockville, Rocklahoma, and Inkcarceration.
The evening opened with back-to-back high-octane sets from both Asking Alexandria and Papa Roach but the sold-out crowd anxiously awaited the headliners to take center stage. The stage hidden behind a solid white curtain dropped as the band launched into “Devil” off the Attention Attention album. Pyro and smoke filled the stage as Shinedown’s frontman Brent Smith raced around the stage as he worked fans into a frenzy as fire and explosions erupted.
The band took a moment during their 18-song set to acknowledge their fans and the State of Florida. The set had a strong mix of songs from different albums with five songs played from both Attention Attention and Amaryllis records.
If you missed Shinedown last night, the band will be back in Florida for a stop at Jacksonville’s Welcome To Rockville Festival in May.
