The album to be released on March 22, 2024 on AFM records.

The band celebrates their 20th year of existence with their ninth studio album “Myths Of Fate”. The Germany-based Symphonic metal artists with Finnish singer Elina Siirala brings her classically trained soprano voice into contrast with the heavy guitar.

Leaves’ Eyes were founded in 2003 and have always benefited from the union of diverse musical talents under the leadership of mastermind Alexander Krull (vocals, songwriting and production). The band produced a total of five music videos with Mastersound Entertainment. Filmed on impressive locations in Iceland, Germany and Poland, they bring the myths to the screen. Magic creatures, great battles and enchanting warrior queens come to live

Leaves’ Eyes’ once again merge traditional metal genres by fusing elements of folk, gothic, and classical music into a captivating sonic masterpiece of the Vikings myths and sagas that  naturally integrate various genres such as folk metal, Viking metal or symphonic metal into their unique sound creations. Legendary releases like “Vinland Saga” (2005) or “Njord” (2009) made them pioneers in their own league, a position they successfully confirmed with chart-breakers like “King Of Kings” (2015) or “Sign Of The Dragonhead” (2018).

LEAVES’ EYES is: Elina Siirala  (Vocals). Alexander Krull  (Vocals), Micki Richter (Guitar), Luc Gebhardt (Guitar), Joris Nijenhuis (Drums)

Alex talks about the album.

Interview by Craig Newman

IMM: Explain this album of the title that is a continuation of the traveler’s voyage?

Alex: Actually, I think the last album and the previous albums were connected to epic sagas and historical base persons as well, and like King Harald Hardrada the last Viking. So this time we go into mythology in the way of the magical side, like you can call it more mystical, super natural, and the Myths Of Fates like title itself the dramatic side of these sagas and  the believes they had. Like the intervened deviation taking place and more of the magical world of the Norse mythology connected with lives of the Vikings.  So to us it was really a great feel for writing music and fits Leaves’ Eyes and the past for example the Nojrd album and other stuff too and also combining the mystical side, where you can cover some new adventures like some secrets of the Norse mythology.

For example, “The Elder Spirit” was very good because they would believe that there is someone always on their side. This leads me to some songs like on The Last Viking that if you have a guiding spirit in all of your life and you also see a connection it that. For the song “In Eternity” for example my mother died and Elina was singing at her funeral so she came up with song idea for song “In Eternity” and fit really well in the concept and was thinking of my mother and so just came to her mind like that and there is a connection to your own interests and your family.

These people in their history of Vikings  were celebrating their interests and like pagan rituals and this also another side not with their battles and weapons but also their spiritual side of the Vikings.

Also we have songs like “Forged By Fire” about the magic of the sword which is real when drawing the sword somebody had to die so songs like that on the album, the song “Realm of Dark Waves” which is connected to the sea life and drowning the sea farers and crew and turning them into water spirits.  So I don’t want to spoil you too much but the listeners can travel with the album into the world of Norse Mythology.

IMM: On this album there are two songs that caught my ear are: “Goddess Of The Night” and Elder Spirit”.  On “Goddess Of The Night” is a slower song but you can feel the power of Elina’s voice. And which symphony did you work with for this album?

Alex: I like that one too. It’s a great ballad. We worked with a American orchestrator Jonah Weingarten who worked on the soundtrack for the Viking Spirit documentary. So the interesting part was when we was working on the documentary, I was like was wow! Because it was just the orchestras and we did two metal versions that we didn’t release. He was like this fucking awesome Alex! I said we should collaborate on the next Leaves’ Eyes album and he said I love to do that! Which is a great collaboration and maybe we continue like that too.

So Elina came to the studio I was working on the song ideas and melodies to try out and the lyrics to fit and all that. It was working great and wrote a lot of great stuff I think.

IMM: I was thinking and plant the seed for the band to release a compilation or greatest hits with unreleased songs and songs that didn’t make the albums.

Alex: Like a special release or compilation, that we have time for that. For us it was important to have this album coming out and sounds refreshing I think. As you said we have stuff in the vault we can release so who knows what we do (Laughter).

IMM: Always nice talking to you and another fabulous album.

Alex: it was a nice interview and supporting the band.
