The Avett Brothers Celebrate Album Release With Massively Successful Live Show At Charlotte Motor Speedway

Upon announcing The Third Gleam earlier this summer, Scott and Seth Avett shared their mission for the new music: “another chance that we may partake in connecting with our brothers and sisters in this world, and hopefully joining you in noticing a speck of light gleaming in what appears to be a relatively long and dark night.” The Avett Brothers have succeeded, not only with The Third Gleam, which American Songwriter describes as a “beacon of light, especially for those who feel the fear, isolation and uncertainty that intrudes so increasingly in everyday life. And what a welcome gleam it is,” but also with their sold-out live concert at Charlotte Motor Speedway this past Saturday, which was carried out safely and offered a gleam of hope for the future of live music. Fans in 1,500 socially-distanced cars attended the show, with the band’s performance projected on the world’s second largest television screen, and over 10,000 fans ordered the Pay-Per-View event with a total of over 30,000 people watching the livestream in 14 countries including the U.S. (all 50 states), Australia, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden, and the U.K. The Charlotte Observer pronounced, “for one night in the middle of the summer of 2020 – in the middle of what I hope is the worst year we ever have to collectively experience in our lifetimes – we as fans of live music (and particularly, as fans of The Avett Brothers) were gifted with two hours that came closer to making us feel like things were right with the world than we’ve felt in months.”

The Third Gleam is available now digitally and on CD via American Recordings/Loma Vista Recordings, with vinyl available September 18 (purchase The Third Gleamhere). Upon release, The Third Gleam was featured as one of the top new albums by Consequence of Sound, NPR, and Paste, with NPR observing, “one of the reasons The Avett Brothers have inspired such a devoted following is because their songwriting is so forthright and connected to their lives,” and Paste declaring, “whether you’re an old-timer or have only recently discovered The Avett Brothers’ earnest brand of songwriting and charming blend of roots, rock, folk, country and pop, it’s a great time to be an Avett Brothers’ fan.”  Billboard featured The Avett Brothers’ Live At-Home Performance as one of “The 13 Best Things That Happened in Music This Week,” and the band made their television debut of lead single “Victory” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Fans who are looking for additional live performances from The Avett Brothers can tune in to PBS to watch The Avett Brothers At Red Rocks. PBS stations carrying the concert special can be seen here, and broadcasts will continue through mid-September. Fans who do not see their local station(s) listed can contact them directly to request that they add The Avett Brothers At Red Rocks to their schedule.
