156/SILENCE: Pittsburgh Metalcore Crew Releases Second Single “Conflict of Interest”

156/SILENCE Releases Second Single
“Conflict of Interest” via Beheading The Traitor
“Irrational Pull” due out June 5
Pittsburgh metal/hardcore crew 156/SILENCE has released their pummeling new single “Conflict of Interest” via Beheading The Traitor.

The quartet’s sophomore album Irrational Pull is due out June 5 via self-release. Produced and recorded by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Full of HellGatecreeper), the follow-up to 2018’s Undercover Scumbag sees the band embracing their metallic side full-force and with fists swinging.

Established in 2015, 156/SILENCE represents the duality of mankind in musical form. Combining vicious breakdowns and soaring melodies in the vein of genre pioneers Poison the WellNorma Jean and Daughters, the Pennsylvania-based outfit craft songs that scream out into the darkness while simultaneously whispering into the light.

After touring relentlessly and sharing the stage with bands like The Acacia StrainVarials and I Am, the metalcore punishers find themselves no longer attached to Innerstrength Records and are looking to make waves independent of label support.

The band planned to hit the road with death metal unit Katabasis for a six-city tour along the East Coast, but COVID-19 put an end to that idea. Instead, 156/SILENCE plans to record a series of live sessions that will be distributed throughout the summer.

“‘Conflict of Interest’ is, for lack of a better word, the most ‘experimental’ song we’ve ever written. Instrumentally, we intended for an early 2000’s style revival with our own twist,” says founding guitarist Jimmy Howell. “Lyrically, the song is a symbol of severing the constraints of whatever is deterring one from bliss. We all have barricades that stand in between us and what we aspire to be. It’s our decision and responsibility to choose whether we’ll lay down and take the poison or be the poison itself.”

156/SILENCE is self-releasing Irrational Pull June 5 on Compact Disc and all digital platforms. Pre-order here: https://156silence.bandcamp.com/album/irrational-pull

“Conflict of Interest” can be heard on the official Spotify playlists New Blood and Heavy Beatdown, while “Irrational Pull” can be heard on Apple Music’s official playlists Breaking Metal and Fresh Blood.
