When you hear the name Gwar, you may think of the costumes or how they play metal but for the fans, it’s about the fake blood that gets sprayed all over you. Now walking into the photo pit, I was unsure of how much blood there was going to be but after talking to a fan who has seen them 9 times before and this show being his 10th, He gave me some advice on what to expect!
Now I love the fact that they set it up as a court case and that they have fake cops that come out and get sacrifice and an angry judge over on a tv. It was definitely a unique show. Performance wise, the costumes looked great and Gwar in general sounded great. I love how they joke on stage about how this is the last song after every song. The encore though, I was not ready to be drenched in fake blood but it was insane and awesome. The crowd was 17 and up which suit this kind of show because it is not an age friendly show!
I definitely recommend seeing Gwar and not because their music kicks ass because it does! I would see them again because their stage presence is like no other and it’s really unique! I just recommend wearing a poncho.
