Live Review~ Collective Soul Rocks The Hard Rock Live in Orlando.
Multi-Platinum, Georgia-bred rockers COLLECTIVE SOUL–E Roland (vocals / keyboards / guitar), Dean Roland (rhythm guitar), Will Turpin (bass), Jesse Triplett (lead guitar), Johnny Rabb (drums)—are pumped and primed to celebrate their 25th anniversary in 2019 in all-out style, but they’re really just gearing up for the long haul. The band’s silver anniversary year will be a celebration of their ongoing legacy in all-out style with a little bit of the classic and a lot of the new.
“’Right As Rain’ is a phrase I had for a while,” says singer/guitarist/keyboardist E Roland. “It was one my grandmother used to tell me about–one of those old Southern things, you know? ‘C’mon, I’m gonna spank you right as rain!’ I never really knew what it meant (laughs). While I was writing it, Peter Stroud (Sheryl Crow’s lead guitarist and musical director) was home one day in Atlanta, and we invited him over to play the slide-guitar solo on the song for us. We all just sat around together and jammed it out.”
The boys were at their best, at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando Florida, as they typically are when playing in Orlando. Orlando, as E said, birthed C.S., as they were about to play a show in the land of Disney when they heard on the radio that Shine was #1 on the charts. Ed teared up when telling the story.
Collective Soul did not disappoint! While I have only seen them many times this was by far the best show they’ve ever put on! I loved the way that they changed up a couple of the songs and enjoyed the songs from their current album. What a presence they had!… the difference between a good concert and a great concert is the reaction of the crowd … and their reaction was tremendous.
Collective Soul have some of the best fans out there and they love to tell people what they love about their and and the shows they go to..Here are a few that we heard from:
Best Collective Soul concert ever!
I’ve seen Collective Soul many times, but this was their best performance so far! Their energy was contagious. They sounded terrific and E’s vocals just get better with time. Everyone in the band was fully involved and seemed authentically thankful to Orlando for helping to put them on the map back in 1994. I LOVE Collective Soul and will not miss an Orlando performance. ❤️By daisygirl
Collective Soul Hard Rock OrlandoWow, I wasn’t expecting this, but I have never felt so connected to a band as I did with Collective Soul. They were so emotionally open about themselves, because (which I didn’t realize) they view Orlando as the genesis of their careers. Truly an amazing experience, as it is clear they have matured over the last 25 years of playing together, and are actually thankful for what they have. Go see them and I think you will be truly moved my them, both musically and emotionally!

Not only have they already announced their Summer “Now’s The Time Tour” with Gin Blossoms that kicked off May 25, but in keeping with the Atlanta band’s theme of 2019, “now’s the time” to also let fans know that their tenth highly anticipated studio album, BLOOD, was released June 21 on Fuzze-Flex Records/ADA. Besides their tour dates with Gin Blossoms, they’re heading out for headlining shows throughout the end of the year.
Collective Soul just keeps getting better! Ed treated us to a new song he wrote only 2 weeks ago – amazing! Loving the long hair on Will … and his awesome guitar strap Thanks guys – you never disappoint! 👍
BLOOD is the culmination of a quarter-century of COLLECTIVE SOUL assessing not only where they’ve come from, but also where they’re going. “I think BLOOD expresses where we’ve been on this life journey,” observes E Roland. “And we’ve done so with songs featuring piano and strings to those with a lot of guitar riffs. BLOOD is an accumulation of all the different styles we’ve used over the years, but it’s still COLLECTIVE SOUL. I think it’s the best we’ve ever done. I know you should think that, but I really do think it’s the best. It’s a good, consistent record. We’re just so proud of it.”
While the album title, BLOOD, maybe evoke many different thoughts and ideas, for the band, it all comes down to one word: family.
