Review~ Thunderpussy Blows The Roof Off Jack Rabbits Live!

untitled shoot-2567

Seattle’s Thunderpussy …..Well, What can I say about these four kick-ass female musicians? First off, they are not just a band with a name that you will never forget..These four ladies, vocalist Molly Sides, guitarist Whitney Petty, bassist Leah Julius, and drummer Ruby Dunphy, have just put out their debut, self-titled record on Republic.

Their songs have an added weight behind them with incredible live. And to support the record, the group came through Jacksonville Florida and stopped by a tiny venue called Jack Rabbits on 10/26, but is known for booking some of the best up and coming artists, and we just might have the next one in Thunderpussy!

The group was simply electrifying. Sides is a powerful personality, possessing a powerful, dynamic voice (that reminds me a bit of Florence Welch’s) and an equally energetic stage presence as she tromped about, laid across the floor. On either side of Sides, Petty and Julius also raised the bar wielding their guitars wildly. The group performed most of their album with the highlights including the riotous “Velvet Noose”, the sweeping “Torpedo Love” and the sweaty “Fever”.

If you get a chance you really should see one of their shows now before they are filling up bigger venue!! It is always great to find a ground just before they make their climb to the big leagues, and Thunderpussy is climbing with every show they do!
