Alice in Chains, that says it all!!
Over the course of their remarkable career, Alice In Chains has garnered multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and amassed a diehard international fanbase whose members number in the millions. In many ways, Alice In Chains was the definitive heavy metal band of the early ’90s. Drawing equally from the heavy riffing of post-Van Halen metal and the gloomy strains of post-punk, the band developed a bleak, nihilistic sound that balanced grinding hard rock with subtly textured acoustic numbers.
Alice In Chain with Jerry Cantrell and bandmates William DuVall (vocals/guitar), Mike Inez (bass) and Sean Kinney (drums) hit the stage in St. Augustine Florida at the St. Augustine Amphitheater in support of their new album Rainer Fog. There have been mixed reviews of the new album, but from what I heard at the live show, fans seemed to really like the new stuff as well as the old mixed in. The flow of the music really was good and the band seemed to be really energetic and got a great energy from the crowd.
I have seen Alice in Chains a few times now since 1993…with the all original lineup to its current lineup. Let me tell you they have never been anything less than amazingly mind-blowing and they still are to this day! The band played songs off of everyone one of its studio albums and all of them are classic hits. They also played three or four songs of their new album which are also destined to be AIC fan favorites as well. They sounded perfect and the St. Augustine Amphitheatre is a great place to see a show…not a bad seat in the house and has great acoustics as well. After 25 years, they show no signs of slowing down and if anything has gotten even better with time!
What a show! Heres to another 25 years gentlemen…long may you rock!! Alice in Chains, that says it all!!
