UK up and coming post-hardcore band I, The Dreamer premiers “Fearless”, A stripped down piano version that makes you just want to listen over and over again, “Fearless” is off their last EP “Shadow Hearts”.
Ignite talked to the band and asked them a few questions about the video and the song and this is what they had to say
What made you decide to make a piano version of “Fearless”?
We were on BBC WM Introducing last summer for an interview and they asked if we would do an acoustic session for them; three original tracks cut back. We had some acoustic guitar tracks that we liked to jam out together but then we realized that Fearless was originally written on piano before it became the heavy hitter it is today. This was us taking the song back to its roots and building it back up differently.
What does fearless mean to you and what was the inspiration for this song?
Fearless is about not fitting in with people that you call your family and your friends and how growing up and learning life lessons have filled you full of inhibitions and self-doubt when, years ago, you used to be so fearless and brave. Everyone else might think you are on top of the world but actually, looking back, you think you were better before.
Do you plan on making any more videos like the piano version with any other songs from the last album or in the future with a new song?
Definitely! We love the idea of reworking songs to change how they can be interpreted. We will bring another one or two out from our previous releases like “Shadow Hearts” but we are also interested to see what tangents we end up taking with new material.
What is next for I, The Dreamer?
We are supporting the brilliant Our Hollow, Our Home on the 25th of March at The Flapper, Birmingham. We will also be part of a spectacular line-up at Pile Up Festival on the 22nd of June! You will see us on tour in the summer so stay tuned for new dates and new material!
The band will be playing a series of UK shows leading up to the album’s release.
I, THE DREAMER are a tornado of turbulent yet fluent modern day post-hardcore. Hitting the scene in 2016 with their debut single ‘Battle Scars’, the five-piece Birmingham outfit have already been making waves on both sides of the pond with a rapidly growing and dedicated fanbase in the UK and US. Drawing influence from the likes of SLEEPING WITH SIRENS, OF MICE AND MEN, THE WORD ALIVE and MALLORY KNOX, their sound is sculpted on solid foundations within the post-hardcore community.
