Supergroup Premieres Debut Single

The Farewell Anthem covers Sam Smith

The Farewell Anthem is proud to premiere their debut single, “Too Good at Goodbyes,” a cover from Sam Smith. The supergroup, featuring members from I Set My Friends on Fire, Whether I and Time and Distance showcase their abilities to transcend from the metalcore/hardcore world into the pop punk scene with this single.

The decision for the band to get together was an easy one, however the timing was never right until now. With their schedule calming down, I Set My Friends guitarist Nate Blasdell heard “Too Good At Goodbyes” and immediately knew that was going to be the beginning for The Farewell Anthem.” He shared, “After listening to it once, I knew this was it. I called Kaleb [Eddy of Whether I] all night and he was asleep, so I just texted him ‘fly out to Pittsburgh on Friday, I’ll have you back by Monday.’ The next morning I woke up to a text saying ‘cool, what are we doing’ and it all transpired from there.”

While known for their heavier projects, the band was excited to branch out and experiment with different genres. Blasdell explained, “As much as all of us have loved playing heavier music, touring the world and everything else; we had all talked about wanting to step outside the box by doing something different.”

Choosing a cover song as the debut of the band opens numerous doors for listeners who may not have been exposed to the member’s other projects in the metal world. Blasdell joked, “We wanted to give our parents music that they could show their friends and not be embarrassed by it.”

The future looks bright for The Farewell Anthem and they look forward to continuing to push boundaries and creating fun, infectious music.

About The Farewell Anthem:

Literally whoever was in the room came together to make this country rock cover band. Started out as a joke from a bunch of retired metalcore kids, but before they finalize their departure from the music industry, they are giving it one more shot. The Farewell Anthem looks forward to getting millions of views on their first single and soaking up their success on the golf course never to be heard from again.
