Country Music Review- 1st Boots & Brew Country Festival debuts at Santa Clarita, California

With the temperature at about 100 -105 degrees, it was the first Boots & Brew Country music festival at Central Park at Santa Clarita, California on June 17, 2017 performed by two of Country music’s known performers: Easton Corbin as the headliner and Maddie & Tae with up and comers Midland and Morgan Wallen. It is various country artists with the traditional to adding various other arraignments to the genre.  Opening the event was Orange County’s Country cover band Arnie Newman Band with the crowd still enter the park when the band started performing after 2pm.

With stage facing west, next was Morgan Wallen who was on NBC’s The Voice whose blended sound of Country, Rock, and hip-hop performed about 9 songs. 3 are new songs from his next album that are “Bout To”, “Raised on The Radio”, and “I Like That”. The band also performed Justin Beiber’s cover of “Sorry” ending the set with the single “The Way I Talk”. His band mates were having fun on stage during the set

After Morgan was Midland whose sound is the influence of the seventies Country music and twang sound.  With about 60 minute set that included the radio “Drinkin’ Problem” with some of the people to start line dancing in some areas of the park. During the changeover of the bands was DJ playing several Rock, Pop, and Country music mixes that people were dancing too.

The country duo Maddie & Tae were next who performed for about 75 minutes with songs from their debut album starting with “Your Side of Town” followed by “Right Here, Right Now” and “Sierra”. They also performed new songs from their next album such as “We’re Gonna Get There”, and “Mirror, Mirror”, also performed a Brooks and Dunn song “Aint Nothing ‘Bout You”.  Other songs from the debut album were “Downside of Growing UP”, Shut Up And Fish” and of course their number one and popular “Girl In A Country Song” for the last song.

With the breeze to help a little with air, getting a little cooler and darker for the 8:30pm start for Easton Corbin with the band bright lights and smoke  to perform for 90 minutes with Easton playing the acoustic guitar for a few songs starting with “Diggin’ On You”, “Lovin’ You Is Fun” and “Kiss Me One More Time”.  They also performed “Love Yourself” (Justin Bieber cover) , as well as the other known songs as “Roll With It”, A Little More Country Than That” “A Girl Like You” and “Baby Be My Love Song”.

To end the show they had two encores. The first they did edited cover versions of “We From The Country”, “She Gone Country”( Alan Jackson), “Should Have Been A Cowboy” (Toby Keith) and “She Thinks My Tractor Sexy” (Kenny Chesney).  The last encore was performing “All Over The Road”.

Overall it was a success and with various Country music acts. We wait and see who will be performing for next years. It filled niche for the summer here along with other music and entertainment performances in the area.
