Alternative pop duo HEIRSOUND, formed by Alexa San Román & Dane Petersen are thrilled to present LAYERS, a three-volume collection of EPs which will be released over the next few months. Today, the duo is surprising fans by dropping four infectious new tracks with Vol. I. Layersis separated into different musical moods which the duo felt needed to be sectioned off for optimal understanding of the emotional journey it goes through. Last week, to tease the upcoming releases, the band released a self-produced music video for the first single, “Proud,” a catchy blend of indie-pop and hip-hop influence, and the track that opens Vol. I of the LAYERS EPs. Stream Layers Vol. I in full on Spotify or Apple Music today. Here is what Alexa San Román had to say about releasing the first installment of Layers:

“We are excited to share with the world the first installment of the Layers collection. We’ve worked long & hard to create something real that we are proud of & Volume 1 is just that. This EP deals with reactionary aggressive emotion & some of it is not pretty but nonetheless it is where our story begins. We hope that you decide to take the journey through all 3 EPs to experience the full emotional transformation & arrive at where we stand today..” – Alexa San Román
For the concept and  artwork of LAYERS, HEIRSOUND decided that an anatomy theme fit best to give this collection a face & visual. Skin, muscle & bone represent each EP and the lyrical content of each EP corresponds to each layer.  Vol. 1 [Skin] deals with the surface level emotions (anger / attraction), and musically their instrumentals are the most electronic and synthetic sounding with heavy drums and high energy.  Vol. 2 [Muscle] gets deeper underneath the skin where more complex emotions lay (confusion / anxiety / new feelings) – backed by a more organic guitar & drum musical sound with a middle ground energy.  Vol. 3 [Bone] is where the deepest most sentimental emotional songs sit lyrically (acceptance / love) & instrumentally the music has a slow soft energy.

HEIRSOUND was formed in New York in December ’14 around the talents of singer/songwriters Alexa San Román & Dane Petersen while the members were still in transition from a previous musical endeavor. Built around the dueling vocals & guitars of Petersen & San Román, the two set out to create an ethereal sound that they can call their own. Merging together from opposite sides of the country (Petersen from CA, San Román from NY), the duo start their journey as HEIRSOUND with a colorful six-song debut EP titled Merge. First appearing on the public radar in October ’15 with the single “Do It Over“, the team’s new sound, & grassroots fan base became clear following a few months of visual artwork posts/teasers. HEIRSOUND is a duo who let you into their own world sonically as well as visually. Always working together closely, Dane & Alexa released their debut EP on 8/5/2016 while continuing to showcase their live performance in as many places around the world as possible. Merge EP was recorded at VUDU Studio, produced and mixed by Mike Watts, engineered by Frank Mitaritonna, Tom Happel & Mike Watts, and mastered by Joe LaPorta.
