Evanescence opened their set with Everybodys Fool for a packed house at the St. Augustine Amphitheater last night. Their hard rocking songs immediately had the fans on their feet, fist pumping and head banging. Even though it has been 13 years since Fallen was released, Amy Lee’s voice sounds as clear and pure today as it did on that first album. The crowd sang along on such favorites as Going Under, Made of Stone, and Take Cover but brought the house down with thunderous applause when Amy sat down to the piano to play and sing solo to My Immortal and Your Star. Amy Lee seemed to feed on the energy of the fans on such songs as Disappear and Call Me When You’re Sober. Closing her set with Bring Me to Life, the audience clapped, chanted and screamed until Amy returned to the stage for a fantastic cover of Michael Jackson’s Dirty Diana.
Even though it has been five years since their last album, Evanescence still connects with the fans and still rocks on. Time for a new album.
