[Interview] Ghost Towns’ Kevin and Alix talk Warped Tour and More !

Ghost Town

Ghost Town is an audio and visual movement ahead of its time; catering to the young generation of today while keeping true to the underground scene they come from.

Huge drums (MannYtheDrummeR), funky guitar riffs (Alix Monster), and unique vocals (Kevin Ghost), are the main elements that give Ghost Town their sound, along with the artwork of Alistar Dippner, aka imamachinst, who uses Ghost Town’s drop dead sounds as inspiration to bring each song to life with his shocking visuals.

The energy in their songs is evident in the recordings but is even more amplified in their live show. Armed with forward thinking and an army of ‘Ghosts’ they are striving to make history.

We had the honor of asking a few questions to Ghost Town some question just before they head out on the The Warped Tour, which they say they are all stoke for.

What does it mean to you and the band to be playing Vans Warped Tour this year ?

It means building the Ghost Town universe and fandom in the most sweaty and sticky way possible. Lol- Kevin

What or Who are you most excited to see on the tour this year ?

Getting to be face to face with our Ghosts every single day and mad hangs with all the friends that will be out on this year’s tour. The first time we were on warped we didn’t know anyone but now we have so many friends on the tour so this should be interesting hah! – Alix

If you had your pick..What would be your favorite song to play on stage?..And Why?

“These Illusions Are My Latest Addiction” it’s a brand new song that we just recently released on Ghost Town Tuesday. It’s nice to be playing new songs it keeps playing live sets every day fresh. Plus we have some other surprises for our set! ;)- Alix

If you would have had the chance to write any song, what song would it be? (It could be any song that has been recorded)

“Tribute” by Tenacious D or “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. Both a tribute to and the best songs in the world.- Kevin

If you had anything to change in the music industry what would it be,and how would you change it if you have a chance to do it?

I would change labels trying to change artists and bands sound and image to try and appeal to a larger audience. Don’t get me wrong there is definitely a way to appeal to more people but without losing the integrity of why people like the band in the first place. It’s the most annoying thing for a band to go through. Instead of trying to Change something that’s unique, labels and management should embrace the uniqueness and explore new avenues for bands and artists. Maybe in a perfect world. Hah- Kevin

Name one group that you would want to do your farewell tour with?

We don’t plan on saying farewell so that’s a hard one to answer. We’d probably have to say Linkin Park. The way that band has innovated and melded genres and broken boundaries has always been a huge inspiration and a staple of Ghost Towns motto. So to send us off with a full circle moment of fruition, we’d be honored to share the stage for the last time with an iconic band like a Linkin Park.- Alix

Name one song that you would like to be know for the most?

We are equally proud of all our songs and any could take the cake on this but it is also safe to say that maybe this song hasn’t been written yet. – Kevin

What is the best thing about tour you like..and what is the worst?

Getting to play shows. It is the ultimate high aside from creating. Seeing the real time reaction and connection from audience is possibly the most instantly gratifying feeling. The flip side to touring is being away from loved ones and family and missing out on moments in life you wish you could be there for. – Alix

Why do you think the Vans Warped Tour has been such a success over the many years it has been going on?

It feels like warped is super good at evolving with the underground rock culture without losing its integrity. We need to bring new faces into the alternative world. I’ve heard people complain about there being too many youngsters at warped but the fact that warped can keep capturing the newest generations along with keeping someone coming back for years is amazing. It’s a fun experience for any walk of life. – Kevin
