Alternative-rock act OCEANS OVER AIRPLANES released their new EP, ‘Young Nights’ this past Friday. The EP features four heartfelt rock tracks, and can be heard here in its entirety. With PopMatters deeming the group, “infectious new alt-rock,” and TalkNerdyWithUs claiming the EP, “…reminds me of my college years,” Oceans Over Airplanes has accomplished their goal of bringing a nostalgic rock sound to listeners.
Oceans Over Airplanes explains,
“The theme behind ‘Young Nights’ was to craft a group of songs that would create nostalgic feelings within the listener. The band has had conversations about how life can now be documented way more than it could in the past, with the creation of instant videos, photos and posts. However has it really helped people really engage in the moment and create a lasting memory? When you are completely enveloped in a conversation/interaction, the moment is real; the moment sticks with you, so deep that you can remember the surroundings, the details, the smells, etc. We are hoping that these songs can truly take you to a place where you ‘remember how you felt.'”
Hailing from Crown Point, IN, Oceans Over Airplanes has performed with Hawthorne Heights, Empires, Real Friends, Amber Pacific, Smoking Popes, Halifax, Spitalfield, The Audition, and more. With a strong Chicago presence, they were also featured at SXSW’s Chicago Showcase, hosted by music television show JBTV.
