First Decree- ” This is Our Rise” – ALBUM REVIEW …OUT NOW !!

First Decree - PR - AEven though they hail from the bucolic setting of Cheyenne, Wyoming – not known as a “Hot Bed” for Modern Rock music – the members of First Decree have the talent, drive and determination to have their music reach a global audience. Their energy is abundant in their live shows and in the music from their forthcoming album “This Is Our Rise”, which dropped on August 21st, 2015,

They have previously released an EP in 2012, and a full album “Set In Stone” produced by Joel Wanasek (Trapt, Righteous Vendetta, The Bloodline).  New album “This Is Our Rise” (also produced by Wanasek). The band is round our by  Travis James (vocals and guitar), Dane Lopez-Smith (lead guitar), Isaac Lopez-Smith (bass) and Zach Lopez-Smith (drums)

“This is Our Rise” starts off shocking with “Here We Go Again“, starting out nice and smooth, then builds from there into a toe tapping, head bobbing catchy rock song. It is just one of those kinda songs that just has you begging for more, and they deliver with the next few tracks like “Stop”, which is one of their current new singles out now. This one hits you solid in the mouth right from the beginning with spot on harmony by Travis James and the guys.

Tracks like ” All I Am ” really showcase Travis vocals which are crazy impressive, along with Zachs drumming that is one point. Then you have “ Bring Me Down” and ” Phoenix ” where Dane really comes to life and shows off his mad skills on his ax.

Just like a Phoenix- Isaac rises from the ashes and hits you hard with his bass in “ Lost In The Crowd ” where he does not get lost in the crowd of talent in this band.  Lost in the Crowd is at Active Rock radio nationwide and is sitting at #12 on RadioContraband’s Under The Radar chart and #32 on the BDS Indicator chart. While this is their first single from “This Is Our Rise”, First Decree’s debut track “Phoenix” peaked at #12 on the Under the Radar Chart and #28 on the BDS Indicator chart.

Then we come to ” Rain ” , and we slow thing down really slow to a melodious ballad type song that fits nicely toward the end of the album, This track weighs heavy on the heart of the listener because it’s a track that focuses on the pain of loss but also celebratory of the lives that were lost.

The guys close out the album a with very Creed resonating song called ” From Me To You “, it really ties every thing together, and show everyone that they are here, and ready to kick some ass. They add in a few acoustic track bonus track as well for good measure.

This Is Our Rise is a great showing for a band had a lot to prove, having toured with so many national acts. While I wouldn’t say this is some going to but them up there with some of the band they are touring with who are some real heavy hitters.  it’s certainly a solid hard rock album that showcases the incredible talents of 4 young musicians on their way up the path to making it BIG as rock stars. This Is Our Rise is out now on all digital retailers, available on all upcoming tours and physically in their web store as well.  First Decree is currently out with Avatar in late August through September; Black Veil Brides in October/November.
