There is a reason Queen Elizabeth made Elton John a Knight – he is a master artist. For 48 years Sir Elton John has created and shared musical magic with his fans far and wide, and Saturday night was no exception. Opening with Funeral for a Friend, followed by Bennie and the Jets Elton John had the sold-out house in his pocket and begging for more. Beyond just the genius of his song writing talents, Elton John is a piano virtuoso, as shown during Levon and Daniel. The entire audience was on its feet applauding after the amazing rendition of Believe which Elton John introduced by stating it’s what the world needs now. After all these years, Elton John still remembers his fans, inviting them to sing along on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and thanking them after each and every song. The ever popular Rocket Man was introduced with a stunning classical piano solo against a red constellation backdrop and amazing satellite images of a nighttime earth and was then followed by Hey Ahab, which had the audience rocking in the aisles. Elton John finished two hours of a fantastic musical extravaganza of 20+ of his famous songs with Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.
The audience refused to leave the Arena until Elton John returned to the stage to perform two encores: Circle of Life and Crocodile Rock. We are indebted to you, Sir Elton John, for the years of fabulous songs and words of life and love you have shared with us.
