fgl_album_artLocal event promoter Orange Peel Entertainment and the Jacksonville Sports Council have partnered with national event promoter AEG Live and Coors Light to host the superstar duo Florida Georgia Line at a massive event at the Shipyards on Friday, Oct. 31 to kick off The Annual Florida vs. Georgia Football weekend in Jacksonville. Called TAILGATE, the concert adds to the growing number of sports and entertainment events surrounding the annual game.

“We take this game very seriously in Jacksonville and have committed to both the University of Florida and the University of Georgia to put on a world-class weekend for fans,” said Gator Bowl Sports Executive Director Rick Catlett. “The Georgia-Florida game is growing into a premier event, as evidenced by having one of the most recognized acts in music kicking off the weekend, and TAILGATE is a great opportunity to expand Georgia-Florida beyond the game.”

TAILGATE will be a day-long event that moves into night with live music on two stages starting at 2 p.m. Other musical acts will include Cole Swindell, The Cadillac Three, Clare Dunn, John King, Michael Ray, Buddy Brown, Tyler Hammond Band and Kimberly Paige plus more!

Local event promoter Orange Peel Entertainment, managed by founder and president Billy Catlin, along with partner Greg Adams Jr. teamed with national promoter AEG in attracting Florida Georgia Line to Jacksonville for TAILGATE.

“There is great energy in Jacksonville during the FLORIDA-GEORGIA weekend and a demand for quality entertainment, now is the time to capitalize on that and build on the already successful game-day action,” said Catlin, who organized the event featuring Corey Smith and Sister Hazel leading up to last year’s game. “Last year’s concert was a huge success, and we expect that this year’s concert will attract thousands to downtown Jacksonville.”

Tickets to TAILGATE go on sale Aug. 30 at, where music and sports fans can score their ticket to the giant tailgate event and receive an exclusive T-shirt along with a digital copy of Florida Georgia Line’s highly anticipated album ANYTHING GOES (Republic Nashville). Ticket bundles start at $23 (plus applicable fees). ANYTHING GOES is set to street on Oct. 14 and fans will be sent their digital album copy via redemption code for download.

Event History

It all started as a backyard party in 1999. A group of locals looked to create an event of their own to revel in the best sports weekend that Jacksonville has to offer. Year one saw a crowd of 200, and the event grew year by year.

Dubbed “Cousin Catfish’s Pigskin Jamboree” for 13 years, the event hosted some of the best regional musical acts as well as provided an unparalleled entertainment option to Florida and Georgia fans as well as local Jacksonvillians. This year, the committee changed the official name to TAILGATE.

Georgia/Florida weekend is one of the best weekends that Jacksonville has to offer. Come enjoy cold Coors Lights, great music, and party with all of your friends Downtown on the beautiful St. Johns River. Don’t miss TAILGATE!
