But the R U Mine singers face stiff competition for two of the night’s biggest awards from Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro who are also nominated for best British band and best live band.
American sisters Haim follow closely behind with six nominations including best international band, best music video and hero of the year for bassist Este.
Queens Of The Stone Age, Lily Allen and Arcade Fire all have three nominations each.
And it seems all her semi-nude twerking has finally caught up with Miley Cyrus as she has been pitted against Harry Styles, Robin Thicke, David Cameron, Vladimir Putin and Russell Brand for the title of villain of the year.
