Guitarist Rich Robinson is stepping out from his main band, the blues-rockers the Black Crowes, for a new solo album, The Ceaseless Sight. Robinson’s third solo outing will be released by Brooklyn’s The End Records in the spring of 2014.

Black Crowes to End Hiatus With Spring Tour Dates

According to Billboard, this is Robinson’s first release on the independent label, which already features an eclectic array of artists: indie-rockers Art Brut, metal band Cradle of Filth and more.

“[The End founder] Andreas Katsambas is a longtime music fan and has some very forward ideas on how to get music out there, but more importantly for me, how to allow the artist to create pure music without the inevitable commercial vs. art clash that comes from a more traditional approach,” Robinson told Billboard. “All of Andreas’ team shares these qualities. It’s going to be great.”

Robinson co-founded the Black Crowes in Atlanta, Georgia back in 1989. In 2010, the band released their most recent album, Croweology, a double-disc set of rerecorded acoustic tracks; after that, then entered an “indefinite hiatus” until this year’s world tour, dubbed “Lay Down With Number 13,” which will wrap up on December 14th with a show in San Francisco, California. Robinson will hit the road again in 2014 with a national tour to promote The Ceaseless Sight.
